Estidama PQP certification: requirements, exams and process

What Pearl Qualified Professional certification involves in Abu Dhabi: the three Pearl rating systems, which exam applies to which project scale, and the PBRS exam format.

A Pearl Qualified Professional is an accredited specialist who takes a project through compliance with Estidama, Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development framework. There is no single PQP exam. Estidama has three Pearl rating systems, each with its own exam, and which one you sit depends on the scale of project you work on:

  • PBRS, the Pearl Building Rating System, for commercial, residential and mixed-use buildings.
  • PVRS, the Pearl Villa Rating System, for villas and low-rise residential projects.
  • PCRS, the Pearl Community Rating System, for master-planned communities and district-scale development.

If your work spans more than one scale, you may need more than one certification. The PBRS exam is 40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, closed book, with a 70% pass mark.

Requirements are set by the Abu Dhabi authority administering Estidama and change from time to time. Confirm the current eligibility, fee and sitting arrangements against the official source before you book. Training, including ours, prepares you for the exam; it does not award the accreditation.
